At the Cannabis Business conference we met Jerel Registre, managing director of the Curio WMBE Fund. Curio Wellness, the Maryland-based medical cannabis company, launched it’s cannabis dispensary franchise that week. They call the franchise Far & Dotter, Swedish for “father and daughter”.
Curio Wellness is targeting Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia for expansion, states with attractive medical programs.
Social Equity and Inclusivity in Cannabis
Curio Wellness is concerned about the lack of diversity of owners in dispensaries. The founders created a private equity fund to sponsor diverse entrepreneurs. Jerel built the fund, raising $35M to sponsor 30-40 dispensaries.
The fund looks to address social equity and diversity in cannabis by offering a credible franchise solution. Far and Dotter takes a clinical approach within medical wholistic approach to healthcare, like a pharmacy.
Far & Dotter Franchise
A Far & Dotter franchise provides business processes, marketing and branding support with a patient-first clinical approach.
Each franchise location will have a clinical director; physician, licensed pharmacist, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or dentist. The director is responsible for delivering an experience that fits the client since cannabis is a varied product depending on how it’s consumed.
Consider the dispensary in the context of a GNC but more. Far & Dotter looks to incorporate both a holistic pharmacy, which will sell vitamins, nutritional supplements plus hemp-based CBD products, and a cannabis dispensary products with THC.
