At the Cannabis Conference we meet Mikhail Sagal and his brightly lit booth regaled with state-of-the-art lighting. Mikail is the cofounder of TSR Grow, a solutions company that provides lighting that economizes energy costs yet optimizes cannabis yield. One thing that caught my eye was how cool the lights are regarding temperature. Mikail and his team noticed the habanero pepper on my shirt and we immediately started talking about growing.
Integrated Lighting Solutions
When it comes to farming indoors, LED lighting technology has been soaring in popularity. LED lights are the technology of the future and they have a number of huge advantages over other types of horticultural lighting.
Mikhail shared the importance of having a total lighting solution that integrates and connects:

It’s not just about spectrum and heat. Great lighting systems are an integrated solution.
When it comes to maintenance it’s importance to decouple power from the lighting. The first grow light LEDs contained both. In the event of a fault, replacement was a difficult task. When power is separated from the light, either unit can be replaced without disrupting the grow house.
With software controllers, micro climates can be monitored and adjustments instantly made to balance the light. As plants mature, they need various spectrums of lights depending on the grow cycle egg veg vs flower. Various wavelength and light spectrums matter. A flexible solution can provide the needed light while collecting data and statistics that can tune the growing process over time.
