Hemp Farm Startup in New York State with Tom Szulist #99

In my years of experience I’ve found that what’s great about being a farmer is you’re always outstanding in their field. Today we meet a farmer who is outstanding in his field, Tom Szulist. I met Tom at MJBizcon talking about the challenges he’s faced as a hemp farmer in New York state. Since 2019, Szulist has grown legal hemp at Singer Farm Naturals in Appleton, near the shore of Lake Ontario in Niagara County. In this episode Tom shares his journey from growing organic crops to a hemp farm startup and the future of cannabis as the state of New York opens up adult use.

Singer Farm Naturals

Singer Farm Naturals is known for cherries and garlic (which he spoke about at length).  Tom grew 150 hemp plants in 2019, deriving more than $100,000 worth of medicinal marijuana oil from his harvest, at about a nickel per milligram.  In 2020 he increased his crop to 600 plants to provide what he considers the highest quality CBD, CBG and new this year CBDV oils. Tom shared that he grow each plant with intention.
