The First HBCU Cannabis Summit #54

In this episode we meet two students from HBCUs, Historically Black Colleges and University and how they are hosting a HBCU cannabis summit to create opportunities for people of color in the cannabis industry.  Today we meet Trea’zure Dahl from Spellman College and Ndaylay Garrett from Morehouse College.  First we discuss the stigma against cannabis in society and their schools. Next we discuss summit goals and measures of success.

Goal of the HCBU Cannabis Summit

Summit is being sponsored for  AUC (Atlanta University Center) institutions  to facilitate recruiting for the cannabis industry.  Recruiting is common for other industries at AUC schools, except for cannabis. The summit is committed to:

  • social equity
  • discuss cannabis and the law
  • CBD and hemp
  • owners and entrepreneurship
  • provide top speakers and leaders in the industry who will show new doors and opportunities.
  • make MSOs notice

How to Measure Success

We talked about the measures of success for the summit.

  1. 50 participants
  2. Create a registered cannabis student organizations
  3. Have summit become an annual event
  4. Sponsor members for national cannabis conferences
  5. Meet hiring managers in the industry
  6. Inspire students outside of AUC to do similar at their schools

Ndaylay wants to become an activist and journalist to promote the plant. He is strongly considering becoming a lobbyist.

Trea’zure is now interested in product creation, growing cannabis, and investing for the BIPOC community with a venture company.
