Are you a grower? Do you water your plants?
Of course you do.
Plus fertilize them no doubt to optimize the yield of your harvest. Since this is the case for all growers, watering by hand with any kind of precision is time intensive, time you can’t spare.
At the Cannabis Business conference we meet Frank Toves. Frank is head of the irrigation and design division at Irrigation Design and Construction (IDC) from California. Frank had a irrigation system on display (see photo) that provided a color coded illustration on irrigation automation.
Inline Injection Irrigation System
IDC builds an inline injection system that takes multiple nutrients and mixes them in a chamber. Once mixed the system sends the mixed nutrients directly to a plant or a day stock tank. t does this all automatically!
These inline injection systems address two main issues? water availability and precision irrigation. With automation, growers can spoon feed nutrients to the plants. The goal is collect data on the irrigation. With this data, growers can better manage the consistency and quality of their growing processes.
Automation gives growers more time to grow.
According to Frank, IDC will add time to a growers day. Growers no longer need to measure out nutrients or blend by hand. These are time consuming tasks. Instead, growers can focus their skills elsewhere in the business.
Benefits:
Frank and I walked through the benefits of precision irrigation vs hand watering:
- Time
- Quality
- Cost
- Labor
- Profit
- Higher ROI
When growers take the time to learn the system, the return on investment is significant.
