Emerging Hemp Opportunities at USHBA and Micaela Machado #71

You may not know this but there is a whole lot more to cannabis then cannabinoids and terpenes. Just like bamboo, hemp is among the fastest growing plants on Earth. It was also one of the first plants to be spun into usable fiber 50,000 years ago. It can be refined into a variety of commercial items, including paper, rope, textiles, clothing, biodegradable plastics, paint, insulation, biofuel, food, and animal feed. Today we visit Micaela Machado of  Old Pueblo Hemp Company. I met Micaela at the Southern Hemp Expo and she was representing the USA Hemp Building Association (USHBA). Micaela walks us through hemp flooring, hempcrete, hemp rebar and other building products. This was the first time I’ve seen any of these products and was thoroughly impressed.
