If you do it right, success will come.  That’s a direct quote from our guest Bear Syavong, cofounder of Klemmson Bear farms, a licensed hemp farm in Illinois. Bear and I meet at Arcedium coffee in St. Charles IL and we talk about business. how he’s a proponent of organic and natural practices, what it takes to be successful as a hemp farmer and the importance of advocacy and how Bear promotes a monthly cannabis meetup called Vibe Nites.

Klemmson Bear Farms

Klemmson Bear farms is located in the Northwest Suburbs Chicagoland area. They have a 20K foot greenhouse for growing cannabis. One strain he promotes his CBD Super Silver. Bear’s family is from Laos and they have a history of farming and gardening. He’s always been drawn to organic farming. Running the farm is more than horticulture. Some of the challenges he has faced include:

  • Raising working capital
  • Finding investors
  • Converting an older greenhouse for hemp growing
  • Finding the right strain that grow well locally

He believes there is plenty of opportunity in the cannabis and hemp space. He recommends you don’t worry about the competition, instead focus on you and producing a quality product. Be passionate about your work and the money will follow.
